Nowruz: A New Year Celebration Connecting the People of Iranian Plateau and Beyond In-Person
For over 5,000 years, the Persian New Year, or Nowruz, has marked the arrival of spring and the start of the new year on the Vernal Equinox (March 20-21). Join Professor Ali Esteghlalian for an exploration of the rich history, cultural significance, and vibrant traditions of Nowruz, celebrated across the Iranian cultural plateau and beyond. Join us to learn how this ancient festival unites communities in Iran, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kurdish Communities, Iraq, Pakistan, India, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and other regions through shared rituals and customs.
